Re: Interesting Hypothesis
Not only talented, but also keen observers of the animals that they valued. Some of the painting are so compelling & realistic. I wish I had half the talent that some of those early artists had. I can't remember which cave or whether the animals were horses or caribou, but the artist sketched or pa...

Re: Interesting Hypothesis
Finally!!! Someone with some sense discusses the popular theory that stone age humans were stoned out of their gourds when they created parietal art in caves. While not totally poo-pooing the theory, they instead discuss the types of art, the age of the art & the conditions of various caves where p...

Re: Recovering hominin DNA from cave sediments
Yeah, think of all the DNA from other organisms... bacteria, mold, lichen, then there are insects & various vertebrates... A cosmically HUGE haystack!
All that DNA lurking in the sediments of a relatively protected environment of a cave system. It boggles the mind.

Re: Help for a newcomer please
On the other hand, if you are located in an area that has mandatory oversight by an archaeological authority prior to any construction, you could possibly participate in an exploratory excavation. Or perhaps you could participate in the emergency recovery of an endangered site. Your b.a. in social ...

Re: Interesting Hypothesis
Can you say "Too stupid to live" boys & girls? I knew you could!
A person becomes a member of the Darwin Club & receives a Darwin Award if he/she takes him/herself out of the gene pool in some manner that shows their lack of fitness to survive and/or procreate.

If he didn't survive, or if he was unable to reproduce after a silly ass stunt like that... he joins the Darwin Club & gets an award.

Re: Interesting Hypothesis
I didn't state that very well... I think the statement that the artists were high from hypoxia is egregious. I sincerely doubt that anyone with a lick of sense would remain in such an environment once they started feeling some effects of oxygen deprivation. Early humans almost certainly had a hyper...

Re: Interesting Hypothesis
I read this article & guffawed. Yeah, right... Early man braved tortuous crawls, total darkness, the threat of rock falls & entrapment, etc just to get high from anoxia... Some researchers are really digging in the bottom of the barrel to find something, ANYTHING, that will bring attention to their...

Earliest interbreeding event between ancient human populations discovered
The article is somewhat elderly, but interesting nonetheless. Date: February 20, 2020 Source: University of Utah Summary: A new study documented the earliest known interbreeding event between ancient human populations -- a group known as the 'super-archaics' in Eurasia interbred with a Neanderthal-...

Re: Great Pyramid "Air Shafts"
New inscriptions aren't exactly diddly squat Min. It seems to me that finding ancient Egyptian inscriptions in such an inaccessible place should be the death knell for Pyramidiots, Ancient Aliens fanboys, the Alt Pseudo Archaeology crowd & their ilk. They can't possibly say that someone forged thos...

Re: Great Pyramid "Air Shafts"
Dang! I don't know how I missed it... There is a link to the University of Leeds press release posted in the body of the Discover Magazine article... The press release did include one blurry photo of the 'drawings' on the floor. What they called elaborate symbols looks like the usual ubiquitous hie...

Re: Great Pyramid "Air Shafts"
Yeah, they did do that years ago. It was just like the Geraldo Rivera show too... It didn't amount to much of anything. I think they found a few red mason's marks along the way & the terminal block that had bronze handles. Right? Anyway, this was supposedly a new exploration with a much smaller rob...

Great Pyramid "Air Shafts"
Hey Min, (or anyone else...) Are you able to find anything else on this "discovery"? It supposedly took place in 2020 & I haven't seen any articles on it except this one. Granted, Discover isn't exactly credible. It looks like they're trying to separate themselves from the alt/ancient Aliens crowd....

They're always probing for a weakness Min. Other than the spammers who are hoping for affiliate payments, the rest are immature individuals who just want to buck the system for bragging rights. At least, that's my take on the subject.
