Hmmm... Documents & textiles preserved in 2 giant/ancient rat nests...

I always think of the medieval world as one big rat's nest.

Besides, the Oxyrhynchus Papyri were found in a garbage midden. Beggars can't be choosers.

Too true. Some ancient Egyptian documents ended up being recycled in the funerary industry as body padding or as part of the plaster/paper mache in Late Period burial masks.

Edit: Cartonnage rather than paper mache...
